What is a custom web application?
A custom web application is software built for one company and the way it works. It runs in the browser, needs no installation and can be used on any device.
Typical examples are SaaS platforms, internal dashboards, customer portals and Progressive Web Apps. The difference from off-the-shelf software: your team does not adapt to the tool, the tool adapts to your team.
When is custom software worth it?
When your team copies data between systems by hand, when important steps happen in Excel or email, or when you pay for a large suite but only use a fraction of it.
If a suitable standard tool exists, we will tell you. We develop our own web apps and integrations where no tool truly reflects your processes.

We work with Next.js, React and TypeScript on the frontend and with Node.js or Python on the backend. Data lives in PostgreSQL, MongoDB or Redis. Sign-in and payments run on established services such as NextAuth.js, Clerk or Stripe.
Everything is open source or industry-leading. That keeps you independent: when the project is complete, you own the full source code, the documentation and all access credentials.

How long does development take?
For an MVP with three to five core features we usually plan six to eight weeks. A complete SaaS platform with ten to fifteen features typically takes three to four months. Large projects are planned individually. We usually show you first working results after two weeks in the sprint demo.
What does a web app cost?

Can you connect our existing systems?
Yes. Our applications are built API-first and connect to CRM, inventory, shop and accounting, for example Propstack, HubSpot or Personio. We also integrate legacy systems.
Who handles maintenance and support?
We do. Support ranges from basic support after launch to 24/7 monitoring. Updates, bug fixes, performance optimisation and new features run continuously. On request we also take care of hosting and infrastructure.
Do I own the source code?
Yes, 100 %. When the project is complete you receive the full source code, the documentation and all access credentials. You can continue development yourself or hire another provider. There is no lock-in.
How does the development process work?
In six phases: discovery and strategy, design and prototype, MVP development, testing and QA, launch, and operation and growth. In every phase you receive regular updates and staging access, and you can give feedback directly into development.
Can you provide our startup with a whole tech team?
Yes. Alongside fixed-scope projects, we provide startups and scale-ups with a practised product and engineering team: senior engineering, UX/UI design and product, plus performance marketing for your go-to-market when needed. Who owns the code and IP when your team builds for us?
You do. Source code, documentation and access credentials belong to your company from the very first line. You stay independent of us and can continue development yourself or hire another provider at any time.
Can we build our own team later and take over?
Yes, that is how we set up the collaboration. Clean TypeScript, tests and documentation make the handover predictable. The team scales up or down until your own team takes over development.
Is the consulting eligible for funding?
Weber Media is listed with BAFA, the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control, as a consulting company. For eligible companies the programme often covers up to 80 % of the cost of digitalisation consulting. Development itself is commissioned separately.
